Yoda Team Web Editor [WIP]

Post by stage7 »

Yoda Team Web Editor (provisional name)

This is the thread to keep you informed of my latest Yoda-related project, a web interface aimed at creating teams for Yoda Soccer in an easy manner, i.e. no need to memorize all the codes and no need to have the actual game or use the in-game editor.

Please take a look here:
http://stg7.net/etc/yoda/team.php

Why?
A final version will include pictures for every country flag (done), hair cut and color and skin color. The user will not need to know which codes belong to each hair style, or country, or price because everything will be shown in a friendly language.

Please take into account the following considerations:
 The editor WILL take TONS of time to load because of jQuery loading all those fancy dropdowns with pictures. If the page asks you to stop or keep running the script, let it continue until it stops. This is good for the user because it loads the images (s)he needs as a reference.
 Please stick to the ISO-8859-15 encoding for now. No other chars than those in this table will work.
 When you've done your team and pressed the button, a blank page should appear and a file in http://stg7.net/etc/yoda/team.txt should have been created.
 Leaving blank rows shouldn't be a problem as long as a shirt number is not written.
 Please create at least 15 players per team.
 Flags, country names and FIFA trigrammes are correct as of June 26, 2012. Yoda Soccer may not be up to date with some names or country codes.

To do:
 Player name length check (22 chars max).
 Add hair styles, colors, skins pictures to the dropdown boxes.
 One click to set all players the same country(/skills/skin/hair/...).
 A switch to choose between current Yoda format team files or the new format (when it is properly specified and released).
 One click to auto set Change1 as Home shirt+Away shorts, Change2 as Away shirt+Home shorts.
 (In the long term) Load teams, edit and save them again.
 (In the long term) Public access collaborative team database.

Please report bugs and suggestions right in this thread.

You can put whichever data you want, let it be from 2011-2012 season, a fantasy team or a historical team. Just make sure you get the file saved in http://stg7.net/etc/yoda/team.txt after you create each team.
